Where It All Begins

Marriage Ethics for Singles – Part 1

In the beginning God created… -Genesis 1:1

Some people think a successful marriage begins from the various activities during dating.

Others think it’s from your relationship with the person when you first start dating.

On the contrary, a successful marriage begins from your preparation as a single, before you ever get to know, meet or choose your marriage partner. It begins with your mindset towards marriage, knowing what you want and what it takes

to get it. It starts with your positive thoughts, which come from your discovery of God’s intention towards marriage from His Word. As we all know, our thoughts control whatever becomes of us. That is why the Bible admonishes that you guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).

I believe that before God created everything we see today, He had the perfect picture in His mind. That was why He could speak the Words into reality. His mind had produced it from the beginning. The truth is, your mind is able to bring everything that you need, just the way you want it; but you must think right!

Therefore, if you want a peaceful, fun-filled and loving home, create that picture in your heart and let it guide your choices each day. Don’t becloud your mind with the evils you see elsewhere, comparing your home to that of others in the world, who go through numerous challenges. Yours can be different; but first, your mind must be reoriented. It all begins in and with you!

Dear reader, I want to congratulate you for reading this article. After your salvation, one of the most important choices you will make is who to marry. As it is often said, the next worst thing after hell fire is a bad marriage. I know you may have heard about blissful marriages and you may be wondering if it is real or just a fantasy because the popular opinion in society today is that two people cannot live together without fighting.
I want to tell you with confidence that it is real. Marriage can be a success! By reading this article, you have taken one giant step towards this reality! – FAO

You need a Partner

YOU NEED A PARTNER!

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. Ecclesiastes 4:9(KJV)

Partnership or friendship involves a deep, strong connection between two individuals who are bound together in a way that affects every aspect of their individual lives. It is a close relationship that involves mutual trust, fellowship, sharing and companionship.

Friendship enriches human life. The mutual affection and devotion that David and Jonathan shared with each other was extraordinary, and it is a prime example of what friendship or partnership is (1st Samuel 18:1-4). A friend or partner is a person you feel connected to like your own soul. The Bible discusses the benefits and requirements of friendship or partnership in Proverbs 18:24, while it stresses loyalty and steadfastness as hallmarks of true friendship in Proverbs 17:17, which says:

“A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”

In Ecclesiastes 4:8-12, the Holy Spirit explains the dangers of being a lone ranger and the benefits of partnership. This passage of scripture states clearly that two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labour. If they should slip on any issue, they will console and help each other to recover. Whenever they suffer an attack or are faced with an adversary, the two will put up a more formidable defence, and they stand a better chance of surviving the enemy’s attack together than as individual entities. The Holy Spirit also reveals some more truths about friendship and partnership in Proverbs 19:4 & 6, saying:

“Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour. Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.”

The wise will keep these truths to heart. Many Christians in the business world would have done better with godly partners, but they are running their businesses alone because they feel that introducing partners will increase their overheads or reduce their profits. This position of the Bible on this is that a right partner will help to increase production and push up profit margins. For example, the great catch of fish in Luke 5:6-7 would have been wasted without the involvement and assistance of partners.

The advantages of partnership cannot be overemphasised, even through some people are in a friendly relationship for personal gain. Nevertheless, God wants His children to prayerfully identify, acknowledge and appreciate His talents and special gifts in others. More importantly, He wants us to harness His wonderful investments together in our lives for maximum profit in all that He has destined us to do. The Lord’s declaration in Matthew 18:19 encourages us to work together to achieve greatness that would otherwise be impossible. Begin to harness the power of this word from today.

Prayer Point

Yesterday I was a lawyer

“YESTERDAY I WAS YOUR SAVIOUR, BUT NOW I AM YOUR JUDGE”

A lady committed a crime and she was sent to court. The punishment for the crime was life imprisonment. She shed tears for help but to no avail. When the case was called in court she started weeping. Her husband, family and friends who accompanied her started weeping but there was no hope.

But something happened. Before the lady could stand in the witness box a man stood up and the court room was silent. Everyone looked at Him. He was noble and gentle. He stood in the witness box and interceded on behalf of the woman. The case was difficult, yet He used all His strength, energy and resources to fight on behalf of the woman. After a long legal battle between the man and the accusers, the lady was set free. The lady fell before the man and asked ’WHO ARE YOU?’

The next day the lady deliberately committed another crime and was sent to the same court. As soon as she entered the courtroom, she saw the man who interceded for her the previous day on the judgement seat. He was no longer a lawyer, but a judge. With smiles on her face the lady said ’I have come again’ The man lifted his head and said ‘yesterday I was a lawyer, so I fought for you, even when you were guilty. But today I am a judge and my judgement must be fair.’ With tears in the ladies eyes she asked for the second time ’WHO ARE YOU?’ and the man replied ”YESTERDAY I WAS YOUR SAVIOUR. BUT NOW I AM YOUR JUDGE”

Today Christ Jesus is our lawyer and redeemer, but a day is coming when He will give a fair judgement to everyone. JESUS IS COMING SOON, SO PREPARE TO MEET HIM.
